Chelsea star Cole Palmer has made it clear that a future in football punditry isn’t on his radar — and for a hilariously blunt reason.
Despite being just 22 and in the early stages of a blossoming career, Palmer was asked during an interview about his potential post-retirement plans. His response left no room for speculation.
“I don’t think my answers would be long enough to be a pundit,” Palmer quipped, ruling out the possibility of a broadcasting career.
While many former players turn to punditry or coaching after hanging up their boots, Palmer envisions a different path, hinting at scouting as a possible post-football endeavor. “I don’t know what I’ll do,” he added. “Might be a scout.”
Palmer’s witty dismissal of punditry aside, his on-field achievements continue to command attention. Since his £40 million transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea in 2023, he has become one of the most promising young talents in football.
In his debut season with the Blues, Palmer registered an impressive 27 goals and 15 assists across all competitions. His league tally of 22 goals was second only to Erling Haaland.
This stellar performance earned him a Ballon d’Or nomination and a contract extension with Chelsea through 2033. The 22-year-old has continued to shine, scoring 14 goals and providing six assists in 23 Premier League appearances this season.
