Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has joined the chorus of acclaim for teammate Moises Caicedo, following the midfielder’s commanding Man of the Match display in Saturday’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Caicedo, who has maintained a high level of performance throughout the season with contributions in both defence and attack, proved instrumental in Chelsea’s latest win against their London rivals.
The Ecuadorian’s decisive impact was clear, as his relentless pressing directly created the opportunity for João Pedro to score the game’s only goal.
His outstanding performance drew widespread praise after the match, with Sanchez, who himself played a key role in implementing Chelsea’s effective set-piece strategy, offering glowing words for his colleague.

“I don’t really need to talk about him but he’s an actual animal,” Sanchez remarked. “He’s the best player on the planet in his position. He’s one of the best in the world; who is better than him in that position? He’s a beast. Every 50-50, every challenge he wins and is so composed on the ball.”
Beyond praising his teammate, Sanchez also reflected on the demands of his own position as Chelsea’s last line of defence.
When you play for one of the best teams in the world, a massive club, you are always going to be under pressure when the team, or you, don’t perform, he noted.
Addressing the unique scrutiny faced by goalkeepers, he added:
“Obviously being the last line of defence, you normally get the blame for it when it goes wrong, even if it is not your fault. But that’s the life I chose, it is what I like. I enjoy it.”
