Chelsea Pre-Season Tour 2026: Full Fixture List, New Signings & Every Match Preview

Chelsea’s 2026 pre-season is not just a warm-up, it is the first real evidence of what Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea is actually going to look like.

Appointed on 1 July after his exit from Real Madrid, Alonso inherits a squad that spent big again this summer, headlined by the British record signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, and a schedule that takes his new side across four countries before a ball is kicked in the Premier League.

Two behind-closed-doors friendlies at Cobham have already given him a first look at his group away from the cameras.

What follows is anything but private: a Sydney Super Cup double-header against Western Sydney Wanderers and Tottenham, a trip to the new Kai Tak Stadium for the Hong Kong Football Festival against Juventus, historic first-time meetings with AC Milan in Jakarta and Johor Darul Ta’zim in Malaysia, and a homecoming at Stamford Bridge against Real Sociedad, the club where Alonso’s own coaching career began.

The Big Storylines of Chelsea’s Pre-Season Tour

A handful of threads run through the entire tour and are worth tracking from game to game rather than in isolation. The first is Morgan Rogers himself.

Given time off after his World Cup involvement, Rogers is not expected to link up with the squad until after the Asia leg concludes on 9 August, with his debut targeted for the Real Sociedad friendly.

Everything before that is Alonso building a side without his record signing on the pitch, which makes the moment Rogers finally does appear alongside Cole Palmer one of the most anticipated snapshots of the entire summer.

The second is squad management across a genuinely demanding schedule: six games in under a month, spanning Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia, with jet lag and fatigue likely to shape team selection as much as tactics do, particularly around the Juventus and Johor Darul Ta’zim fixtures.

And the third is simply Alonso’s own footballing identity: patient possession, positional rotation, and an aggressive counter-press once the ball is lost, the same principles that defined his time at Bayer Leverkusen.

How much of that survives contact with a Premier League squad, tired legs and unfamiliar opposition is exactly what this tour exists to answer.

Chelsea’s New Faces This Summer

Morgan Rogers arrives from Aston Villa in a British record six-year deal reported at $225m, making him the most expensive British player in history and Chelsea’s outright record signing.

Alongside him, Chelsea have brought in Emmanuel Emegha, a 23-year-old Dutch striker from RC Strasbourg who has made an immediate impression in pre-season, Geovany Quenda, a highly rated winger from Sporting, and Marco Palestra, an Italian full-back from Atalanta.

Unfortunately the pair have been temporarily ruled out of the tour after picking up injuries.

Summer signings Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda are both missing from the travelling group, with Emegha nursing a hamstring injury picked up against Bromley and Quenda carrying a minor, unspecified knock.

Their absence has opened the door for seven academy prospects, including Reggie Walsh, Reggie Watson and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, to travel and get valuable minutes against senior opposition.
