A miserable afternoon between the sticks. He got a hand to King’s first-half effort but couldn’t keep it out, then let King’s low near-post drive squirm underneath him for the equaliser before palming Castagne’s shot straight into García’s path for Fulham’s second. Alonso will already be looking at the goalkeeping options available to him.

A mixed full debut in this back three. A couple of last-ditch blocks and recoveries showed real composure under pressure, but a loose back-pass that nearly gifted Fulham a chance was a reminder he’s still finding his feet at this level.

About as good a full debut as Chelsea could have hoped for. Defended calmly all afternoon and then produced the moment of the game at the other end, driving forward unmarked to tee up Rogers for Chelsea’s second. A real statement of intent from the summer signing.

Not his sharpest outing. Booked early for a rash challenge, then switched off at the worst moment as Fulham’s second goal came from a long ball he should have dealt with. Will want a quieter afternoon next time out.

Steady rather than spectacular from right wing-back. The game was largely won and lost through the middle and up front, and Gusto’s afternoon reflected that: tidy without ever really imposing himself.

Forced a smart save out of Leno with his one real effort on goal but was otherwise quieter than usual, both in and out of possession. Picked up a needless booking for a foul on King.

Given a rare start with Caicedo missing through injury, and made the most of it. Lavia was Chelsea’s control in midfield, breaking up Fulham attacks and helping Chelsea dictate the tempo before cramp forced him off.

Encouraging on the ball for a teenager away from home, comfortable carrying it out from the back three. One sloppy moment, taking too long over a throw-in that was promptly stolen by Fulham, was the one blemish on an otherwise tidy debut season start.

Back to his brilliant best. Palmer was everywhere in the final third, teeing up João Pedro inside the first minute before adding a coolly taken goal of his own after the break. Felt his hamstring late on and was withdrawn as a precaution, with Chelsea keen to take no chances given what he brings to this side.

A quiet start to life as a Chelsea player before growing into the game superbly, and he was rewarded with a well-taken debut goal, arriving late into the box to turn home Lacroix’s pull-back. Plenty to build on.

Sensational. Scored inside the first minute to continue his scorching pre-season form, then turned provider with a driving run from deep to tee up Palmer for the third. The kind of performance that makes Chelsea’s front three look like the best in the league on their day.

Booed by sections of both sets of supporters when he replaced Lavia, with his Manchester City situation still hanging over him, though a few Chelsea fans could be heard chanting his name too. A largely anonymous cameo either way.

Gave Chelsea a different outlet down the left after replacing Hato, causing Fulham’s back line some problems in the time he had.
