Enzo Maresca and Joao Pedro Nominated for Premier League Awards

Chelsea have received double recognition in the Premier League’s monthly awards, with head coach Enzo Maresca nominated for Manager of the Month and forward Joao Pedro shortlisted for Player of the Month for August.

Maresca guided the Blues to an unbeaten start in the league, while Joao Pedro has hit the ground running since his summer arrival, scoring twice and assisting twice in his first three top-flight matches.

Voting is open until Monday 8 September at midday, with winners set to be announced on Friday 12 September.

Maresca’s nomination comes after a positive opening to the campaign. Chelsea drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace on the opening day before producing back-to-back victories over West Ham and Fulham.

The 5-1 triumph at the London Stadium was the standout, with five different scorers on the night including Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernández.

The Blues then followed that up with a 2-0 win over Fulham, conceding just once across their first three games.

The Italian tactician is one of four names on the shortlist, joining Regis Le Bris (Sunderland), David Moyes (Everton), and Arne Slot (Liverpool).

Since his arrival in the summer of 2024, Maresca has taken charge of 67 matches in all competitions and continues to put his stamp on Chelsea’s evolving identity.

For Joao Pedro, the nomination is a reward for a sparkling start to life in Blue. The Brazilian scored the equaliser against West Ham before setting up Pedro Neto’s strike with a pinpoint cross.

He later had a hand in Trevoh Chalobah’s goal to round off the 5-1 win. A week later, he rose highest to score against Fulham, netting in consecutive league matches and helping the Blues claim derby bragging rights.

His performances earned him Chelsea’s Player of the Month award for August, as well as multiple Player of the Match accolades on the club’s official app.

He is joined on the Premier League shortlist by Riccardo Calafiori, Hugo Ekitike, Jack Grealish, Marc Guehi, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Chelsea fans now have the opportunity to support both Maresca and Joao Pedro in their respective categories.

Votes can be cast via the Premier League’s official website, with the final results revealed ahead of the league’s return after the international break.
