Pundit Claims Jackson is Better Than Liverpool Star

Nicolas Jackson was in the spotlight yesterday following a mixed performance against Bournemouth. The Senegalese forward provided a superb assist for Cole Palmer to open the scoring, showcasing his dribbling and hold-up play.

However, it was his finishing that once again let him down.

Jackson missed a couple of chances that could have sealed the game for Chelsea in the first half, leaving fans and pundits frustrated. Despite this, one pundit claims Jackson might still have the edge over another Premier League striker.

Jason Cundy believes Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is a better player than Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.

Like Jackson, Nunez has come under scrutiny for his finishing since joining Liverpool in a £85m deal in 2022. But for Cundy, Jackson is the better striker, even though the Senegal international showed some frailties against Bournemouth.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said: “Jackson may well turn out to be a very good striker, and there are a lot of good things to like about him.

The goal, the assist for Palmer, his hold-up play, the pass—brilliant. It’s his finishing, his main job, that he has to improve. He could have had at least two goals today—should have had two.”

Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant attempted to compare Jackson to Nunez, but Cundy was not ready to entertain that argument.

When Pennant suggested there was a debate to be had, Cundy responded firmly:

“He’s better than Nunez. The numbers will tell you it’s not [a debate].”
